Dear Colleagues and Friends, Welcome to Asian-Oceanian Society of Intraoperative Neurophysiology (AOSIN) webpage. Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) is well known to be useful for prevention of intraoperative complications during surgeries of the nervous system. It has become an indispensable part of many surgical procedures worldwide. Almost 60% of world population lives in our Asian-Oceanian region. Needs for IONM are rapidly growing for this population and the demand will be increased more in the near future. However, IONM in most of the countries in our region is still in either developing or underdeveloped stage.

Several countries in our region currently have their own domestic IONM societies or committees within associated academic societies. However, needs for an international organization of IONM in which many intra-regional countries can communicate together with each other are emerging for the development of this field. Thus, AOSIN was established to meet these needs in our region in 2018. Now it is playing essential roles for a dissemination and education of IONM for intra-regional countries, and become a main organization of cooperation and collaboration for associated physicians, surgeons, and technologists. Also, it is performing a pivotal role in communication and contribution to other related worldwide societies. The 1st Congress of AOSIN was held successfully in Dec 2018 in Seoul, South Korea, and the 2nd Congress will be held under the auspices of International Society of Intraoperative Neurophysiology (ISIN) and World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) on Jul 19, 2019 in Osaka, Japan. The program of Congress will include plenary session and scientific session. Internationally renowned speakers will join us to teach and discuss new developments and scientific advancements that will change the future practice and researches of intraoperative neurophysiology. I do hope that a large number of colleagues and friends from our Asian-Oceanian region would join the Congress and share their knowledges and enjoy their friendships.
